So, we went to Boise for Christmas! We left Christmas Eve morning, if you can call it that. We got up at 3:30 am after about 3 hours of sleep!
We left the house at 4:30 am because we wanted to make sure that we had enough time to park in the shuttle lot in BFE, get to the airport, and do the overweight-luggage shuffle. The weather wasn't bad, but it was bitterly cold! Other than my suitcase being 10 pounds overweight, and having to shove stuff into other bags, we made it through security pretty easily. We still had over 90 minutes to wait by the time we made it to the gate. Yes, my suitcase is pink!
At the time we were supposed to be boarding, this lady from Delta announced that our flight attendants had called in sick and they were working on getting others, but that the flight would be delayed. half an hour later, they announced the flight was cancelled. Chris stood in line to get rebooked, and called Delta at the same time. It came down to make this flight, or get stuck in either Denver or Salt Lake for another day or two. While Chris was on the phone, they announced they had found one flight attendant, so there may be hope. Finally about 30 minutes after that, they found another one who would be landing at 8:20 from Salt Lake, and would come across the airport to hop on our flight and go right back! So, they double-parked another plane to Salt Lake right behind ours, one of their stewardesses came over to help us board, and we took off as soon as our stewardess got on the plane! The 8:45 am flight and the 7:20 am flight left for Salt Lake at the same time!
That story sounds a lot better than what it really was. I was so cranky after not getting much sleep and getting up so early that I almost couldn't stand it. I wanted to beat these two horrible little boys sitting across from us at the airport...We finally made it to Salt Lake, which was full of people trying to get back to Boise from the Pointsettia Bowl in San Diego. It was kind of fun seeing all the blue and orange we were surrounded by! That flight was only delayed about 1/2 and hour, so we made it about 1 pm. And I didn't even throw up on the flights! Wa hoo!
My dad picked us up, and we carried out the elaborate plot in cahoots with Meagan and Kelton to sneak him into a Verizon store to buy him a new phone, but not tell him which phone, and welcome him into the 21th Century! The man couldn't text or send pictures on his old phone... He opened it Christmas morning and loved it! It didn't even take long for him to learn how to text or send pictures! :)

We brought my Wii Fit game and the balance board with us, so we played a lot of that with my family. We also watched a lot of movies and played Cranium, Mafia (aka Assassins), and this hilarious game called Snorta. It was great. Pretty much everyone bought us giftcards, which was great because they're easy to pack and they don't weigh much! Those were pretty much our requirements. I got Barnes & Noble and Amazon giftcards and a sweet massaging neck roll pillow. Chris got a new Wii baseball game, The Bigs. Together we got Best Buy giftcards and a ton of yummy candy!
On Saturday, December 27th, we (well, I--Chris sat in the car and read) went tubing with my family, the two dogs--KC and Kallie, and the whole Olsen clan on Simplot Hill! It's quite the sled-ride in the winter, and great for ice-blocking in the summer. We took a blow-up river raft that was awesome before it popped, and we made huge chains with everyone! We even piled KC and Kallie into the raft with us and took a few rides. They loved it! Most fun I've had in a long time, even with getting snow-plowed. The weather was just above freezing, and it wasn't windy or anything. A perfect day for tubing! Too bad I didn't bring my camera...
