It was warm! Sunny, no snow, not even rain. And it was taken from the car, which was where we spent most of our time, it seemed like. It was in the 50s pretty much the whole time we were there! So awesome... Who could complain almost 60 degrees in December and January?!We drove to Stanford straight from the airport after waiting an hour for our bags to see Chris's cousin, Mike, who is waiting for a lung transplant due to CF, and heard a pretty good upbeat Blue concert in the hospital atrium. We also enjoyed really good food for a hospital cafeteria. We saw an awful improv play thing on New Years Eve, and were in bed right after 11:00 pm CA time, due to getting up so early for our flight.
We spent a couple days with Chris's mom and brother, Sandy and Matt, and played the Wii, went out to eat, and saw The Tale of Despereaux, which is really cute! It might be scary, and a little too invovled for little kids though. We also got together with Jason and Anne, one of Chris's friends from high school and his girlfriend. I love them! We met last year when I was visiting San Fran. We also drove to Petaluma to see one of Chris's teachers from high school. She and her husband are awesome! I loved them too.
On Saturday, we drove out to Elk Grove (near Stockton) to see the rest of Chris's dad's side of the family. I love his Grannie Annie, and his Uncle George and Aunt Peg. The food was amazing, and it was great to see everyone.
That night, we stayed at a hotel in San Francisco right next to the airport with a free shuttle. We didn't want to have to get up at 2 am to make our 6:00 am flight, or make anyone drive us clear to the airport from Novato. We went to bed at 9:30 pm, and got up at 3:30 am. Ah the joy...

We made it to the airport with plenty of time to spare, and got there just before the huge morning rush. Of course our flight home, when we had nothing we needed to be back for, was totally on time with no delays or issues... Unlike every other flight this trip!
We came home to a really sick cat though, so it was probably a good thing we made it home early. She had to go the vet and stay for 2.5 days! Poor little Turtledove! She had some kidney thing going on, and was really dehydrated, long story short. She also have severe arthritis in both of her back legs. She came home with a feeding tube because she wouldn't eat, so we got to feed her a liquid diet through the tube in her nose for a day! Liquid kitty food is just about the nastiest thing ever, let me tell you. It has the consistency of Slim Fast or Ensure, is the color or pureed liver, and reeks to high heaven! Our whole house stunk like it for a few days.

I finally just took out her feeding tube myself. That alone was an adventure. Happily, Turtle is eating again on her own, getting antibiotics shoved down her throat once daily, and is acting like her normal self again, which translates to not liking me, growling and hissing and all the other kitties, and acting like she owns Chris and the house...
